Technical Services

Comtec’s Technical team, which comprises of experienced carpenters, welders and engineers, will be responsible for building all event set and staging on site in our dedicated workshops. All manufacturing is carried out in line with Health and Safety and Environmental standards. Great care is taken not only during the build process but also afterwards.

Once built and checked, the stage sets are wrapped securely in waterproof material to ensure that they are not damaged in transit and in the event of bad weather as the kit is being unloaded at the venue.

Located within our dedicated manufacturing workshops, we also have our equipment warehouse which houses all of our projection, lighting and sound equipment. All of our equipment is calibrated every 6 months and replaced every 3 years. This ensures that we are always able to offer our clients the latest cutting edge technology, irrespective of the scope of event.

The fact that we have no reliance on third party equipment means that we can maintain control over the quality of the events we produce and also that we can offer our services very competitively.

To mitigate any potential risk to the integrity live event, it has always been Comtec’s policy to carry identical back up equipment to each event.

Over our 28 year history, we have in the past worked in some very challenging environments where the scope of the event has meant that we have had to be very creative about how we use the equipment and in some instances have had to use very specialist kit.

The fact that we have all of this in house enables us to apply very creative solutions to Audio Visual challenges, without our clients incurring additional costs.

In addition to owning our own Audio Visual equipment, we also own a large number of screens, an assortment of lecterns (including the latest rise and fall), several Autoprompt kits and a wide selection of other Event equipment that are generally used on large events.

All of our event equipment is stored on site in specially made flight cases which are also used to transport the equipment to the live event.

As part of our Health & Safety procedures, the members of the Technical team responsible for rigging are fully accredited with the accreditations being renewed on a regular basis. At the proposal stage, the concepts are designed based on knowing how long the build time will be which is allocated by the venue. This means that we do not over run on the rigging time and always ensure that we have sufficient time allocated on the production schedules to carry out internal technical rehearsals and client rehearsals.

As an extension of our clients business whilst on site, it has always been Comtec’s policy to wear a corporate uniform. All Comtec live event crew will be dressed accordingly and have a uniform for the rig and derig and a separate one for the live show. This is done not only to ensure that we look professional at all times, but also so that our clients can easily find us on site.
